He will 00:03:57.960 --> 00:04:00.340 interrupt you personally. He will interrupt you 00:04:00.340 --> 00:04:03.039 corporately as a group of people. And He will 00:04:03.039 --> 00:04:06.360 even interrupt you naturally. He will shake all 00:04:06.360 --> 00:04:11.080 of heaven and earth. To turn your attention to 00:04:11.080 --> 00:04:15.419 him with interruption. And how many know we don't 00:04:15.419 --> 00:04:17.699 mind interruption so much if it's to save our 00:04:17.699 --> 00:04:20.800 life? A hundred years ago, 00:05:28.399 --> 00:05:30.360 when I used to work in the elevator industry, 00:05:30.660 --> 00:05:33.959 and it was about a hundred years ago, I used 00:05:33.959 --> 00:05:35.459 to do something, and one of the tasks that I 00:05:35.459 --> 00:05:38.379 used to do was part of is we would change the 00:05:38.379 --> 00:05:41.220 cables on elevators. And they had these things 00:05:41.220 --> 00:05:43.720 that, there's something called a shackle that 00:05:43.720 --> 00:05:45.680 attaches to the elevator. And when you're putting 00:05:45.680 --> 00:05:47.699 new cables in, you got to put the cable through 00:05:47.699 --> 00:05:49.980 the shackle, bend the ends over, and then pull 00:05:49.980 --> 00:05:51.579 it back in. This is how they do it old style. 00:05:51.879 --> 00:05:54.560 And they did something in particular. Once you 00:05:54.560 --> 00:05:56.879 pulled it back in, that wasn't an enough strength 00:05:56.879 --> 00:05:59.500 to hold the entire weight of the elevator. So 00:05:59.500 --> 00:06:01.560 what they did is they heated up a metal alloy. 00:06:02.300 --> 00:06:05.439 And we would heat this metal alloy called babbit. 00:06:05.600 --> 00:06:08.240 And it was funny because when you see this in 00:06:08.240 --> 00:06:10.360 a chunk, right, it's just a chunk of metal that 00:06:10.360 --> 00:06:12.660 you throw in a pot and you heat up. But when 00:06:12.660 --> 00:06:15.079 you look at it, it's kind of dull and it's porous 00:06:15.079 --> 00:06:17.100 and it doesn't look like much. And then you had 00:06:54.670 --> 00:06:58.009 this... Perfect silver metal that was liquefied 00:06:58.009 --> 00:07:01.269 and it had this red iridescent glow to it. And 00:07:01.269 --> 00:07:03.350 that's what happens when Jesus interrupts us. 00:07:04.029 --> 00:07:05.990 He'll come into your life. He will interrupt 00:07:05.990 --> 00:07:08.410 you. He will turn up the heat in your life. And 00:07:08.410 --> 00:07:10.430 all of a sudden, things begin to change. All 00:07:10.430 --> 00:07:13.350 of a sudden, the sin in our life begins to come 00:07:13.350 --> 00:07:15.529 to the surface, right? The black stuff comes 00:07:15.529 --> 00:07:18.050 to the surface and it draws. But also when you 00:07:18.050 --> 00:07:21.540 get that dross out. There's this perfect silver. 00:07:21.779 --> 00:07:25.060 He begins to change things and purify us in our 00:07:25.060 --> 00:07:27.560 lives. And in Luke chapter 5, which is where 00:07:27.560 --> 00:07:29.339 we were going before we were so divinely interrupted 00:07:29.339 --> 00:07:31.379 from the back. Those guys are awesome. Luke chapter 5. Jesus is going to interrupt 00:07:40.620 --> 00:07:43.879 several men at a place of employment. Actually, 00:07:43.920 --> 00:07:46.060 their place of business. He's going to heat things 00:07:46.060 --> 00:07:48.490 up. He's going to rock their world. and he's 00:07:48.490 --> 00:07:50.050 going to mold them into something brand new. 00:07:50.889 --> 00:07:54.060 Now, as we go into Luke chapter 5, I want you 00:07:54.060 --> 00:07:55.620 to do something because sometimes we go into 00:07:55.620 --> 00:07:57.720 scripture and we go to read a scripture. I know you 00:08:01.620 --> 00:08:03.920 all got good imaginations out there, right? I want 00:08:09.540 --> 00:08:11.319 you to picture a lake in your mind. I want you to picture a man coming, and 00:08:36.710 --> 00:08:39.909 behind him is a crowd following. This is the 00:08:39.909 --> 00:08:43.110 scene in Luke chapter 5. He was the guy walking 00:08:57.960 --> 00:08:59.620 in. There was a crowd following him. The lake 00:08:59.620 --> 00:09:02.820 of Gennesaret. And saw two boats standing by 00:09:02.820 --> 00:09:05.639 the lake. But the fishermen had gone from them 00:09:05.639 --> 00:09:09.460 and were washing their nets. And he got into 00:09:09.460 --> 00:09:12.820 one of the boats, which was Simon's, and asked 00:09:12.820 --> 00:09:15.860 them to put out a little bit from the land. Simon 00:09:15.860 --> 00:09:19.220 Peter. His brother Andrew, they're all been out 00:09:19.220 --> 00:09:21.620 fishing all night long along with two other gentlemen. 00:09:21.860 --> 00:09:23.899 They're out trying to make money. They're not 00:09:23.899 --> 00:09:26.159 out fishing for pleasure. They're not out just 00:09:26.159 --> 00:09:29.039 for a relaxing evening. They're out trying to 00:09:29.039 --> 00:09:31.960 do business. They're trying to catch fish. This 00:09:31.960 --> 00:09:34.620 is their livelihood. This is what puts food on 00:09:34.620 --> 00:09:37.279 the table literally for them. And they just made 00:09:37.279 --> 00:09:40.970 zero dollars that evening. How many love making 00:09:40.970 --> 00:09:43.149 zero dollars and working all day long, right? 00:09:43.750 --> 00:09:46.710 Zero dollars. They're cleaning their nets. They're 00:09:46.710 --> 00:09:50.009 tired. They're frustrated. They've lost money 00:09:50.009 --> 00:09:52.970 all night long, right? And now they're left with 00:09:52.970 --> 00:09:55.629 nothing but cleaning a bunch of nets, cleaning 00:09:55.629 --> 00:09:58.070 the boats, complaining a little bit, and going 00:09:58.070 --> 00:10:00.710 home and trying to get some sleep, right? And 00:10:00.710 --> 00:10:03.710 a man walks up to him on the shoreline as they're 00:10:03.710 --> 00:10:06.830 cleaning their nets and the boats with a crowd 00:10:06.830 --> 00:10:10.370 of people following. And he hops into Simon Peter's 00:10:10.370 --> 00:10:14.590 boat and interrupts the whole thing, right? And 00:10:14.590 --> 00:10:17.330 it's Jesus. And he says, Peter, I need you just 00:10:17.330 --> 00:10:19.210 to put out a little bit from shore. I need to 00:10:19.210 --> 00:10:21.450 talk to these people. And it'll work great if 00:10:21.450 --> 00:10:23.129 you just get me out a little bit on this lake 00:10:23.129 --> 00:10:25.809 shoreline. I can speak back at the people. I 00:10:25.809 --> 00:10:28.669 need you just to go out just a little bit. Now, 00:10:28.730 --> 00:10:31.000 let's be honest. Sometimes we look at Scripture 00:10:31.000 --> 00:10:33.340 and we're thinking it's all holy and pure and 00:10:33.340 --> 00:10:35.220 everybody's thinking wonderful thoughts. And 00:10:35.220 --> 00:10:37.320 I think, I wonder what I could, if you could 00:10:37.320 --> 00:10:39.139 read Peter's mind at that moment, I wonder what 00:10:39.139 --> 00:10:42.000 he was thinking, right? I'm tired. I've worked 00:10:42.000 --> 00:10:43.580 all night. How many know he might, that seemed 00:10:43.580 --> 00:10:46.019 like, maybe seemed like a very irritating interruption 00:10:46.019 --> 00:10:48.059 at the moment. This guy that he doesn't know 00:10:48.059 --> 00:10:50.240 comes and hops in his boat, not sure what he 00:10:50.240 --> 00:10:52.600 was thinking at this time. But Peter goes on 00:10:52.600 --> 00:10:55.000 with it. He's cooperatively, maybe irritated 00:10:55.000 --> 00:10:57.000 and cooperative all at the same time, right? 00:10:57.240 --> 00:10:59.399 And he's thinking, I'm going to do this. don't 00:10:59.399 --> 00:11:00.779 really want to do this. I want to go home and 00:11:00.779 --> 00:11:02.340 get some sleep, but I'm going to go ahead and 00:11:02.340 --> 00:11:04.500 do it anyway. I'm going to hop in the boat. And 00:11:04.500 --> 00:11:06.299 I think Peter was thinking those things. And 00:11:06.299 --> 00:11:08.299 maybe even, it's amazing he didn't say anything, 00:11:08.419 --> 00:11:09.879 because if you read anything about Peter in scripture, 00:11:10.200 --> 00:11:11.659 how many know Peter was the one that was always 00:11:11.659 --> 00:11:14.120 speaking out, speaking up, hopping in and hopping 00:11:14.120 --> 00:11:16.500 out, right? He was always the first guy doing 00:11:16.500 --> 00:11:19.740 that. But Jesus isn't worried about Peter's weariness. 00:11:19.919 --> 00:11:21.679 He's not worried about his frustration. He's 00:11:21.679 --> 00:11:23.460 not even worried about his personality traits. 00:11:24.080 --> 00:11:29.659 Jesus is concerned about Peter's soul. He's He's 00:11:29.659 --> 00:11:32.700 concerned about Peter's future and the future 00:11:32.700 --> 00:11:35.000 of the men that are with him and the crowd that 00:11:35.000 --> 00:11:40.340 is there. Luke 5, 3 says this. Then he got into 00:11:40.340 --> 00:11:42.179 one of the boats, which was Simon's. I'm rereading 00:11:42.179 --> 00:11:44.580 3. And asked him to put out a little from the 00:11:44.580 --> 00:11:46.899 land. And he sat down and taught the multitudes 00:11:46.899 --> 00:11:50.100 from the boat. Then he stopped speaking. He said 00:11:50.100 --> 00:11:52.899 to Simon, launch out into the deep and let your 00:11:52.899 --> 00:11:55.980 nets for a catch. Now Jesus preaches for a while 00:11:55.980 --> 00:11:59.070 and he tells Simon. Peter, let's launch out into 00:11:59.070 --> 00:12:01.909 the deep. But Simon answered and said to him, 00:12:01.929 --> 00:12:05.090 Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing. 00:12:05.669 --> 00:12:09.169 Nothing. Right? Nevertheless, at your word, I 00:12:09.169 --> 00:12:11.570 will let down the net. And when he had done this, 00:12:11.610 --> 00:12:13.610 they caught a great number of fish, and their 00:12:13.610 --> 00:12:15.830 net was breaking. So they signaled to their partners 00:12:15.830 --> 00:12:18.350 in the other boat to come and help them. And 00:12:18.350 --> 00:12:20.110 they came and fueled both boats so that they 00:12:20.110 --> 00:12:22.509 began to sink. And when Simon Peter saw it, he 00:12:22.509 --> 00:12:24.929 fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from 00:12:24.929 --> 00:12:45.879 me, for I am a sinful man. Another gospel says 00:12:45.879 --> 00:12:49.600 that they all left everything and followed Jesus. 00:12:50.200 --> 00:12:54.960 Jesus steps on the scene with a divine interruption. 00:12:55.659 --> 00:12:58.779 Simon Peter, Andrew, his brother, James, and 00:12:58.779 --> 00:13:02.580 John, he heats them up. He astonishes them with 00:13:02.580 --> 00:13:05.659 a miracle of fish. And then he begins to mold 00:13:05.659 --> 00:13:08.320 them into something different. Fishermen of men. 00:13:08.639 --> 00:13:11.299 He says, no more fishing for fishies, you guys. 00:13:11.620 --> 00:13:14.960 You're going to fish for men. And they leave 00:13:14.960 --> 00:13:19.000 all and follow him. And what started out as maybe 00:13:19.000 --> 00:13:22.679 an annoying interruption on a very ordinary, 00:13:22.980 --> 00:13:26.990 frustrating day. of Peter and these other men, 00:13:27.129 --> 00:13:32.830 changes everything. And it's one very personal 00:13:32.830 --> 00:13:36.549 divine interruption that can change our lives 00:13:36.549 --> 00:13:39.809 and shift them as well. It can change everything. 00:13:39.929 --> 00:13:42.529 This week, I had the privilege to sit down with 00:13:42.529 --> 00:13:45.669 a couple. who God divinely interrupted in the 00:13:45.669 --> 00:13:48.070 last couple weeks. And they began to tell me 00:13:48.070 --> 00:13:50.250 their story. Now, it's their story to tell, so 00:13:50.250 --> 00:13:51.830 I'm not going to tell it all to you this morning. 00:13:51.929 --> 00:13:54.649 But as they begin to unfold from a year ago plus, 00:13:54.769 --> 00:13:58.610 God unfolding this story and this interruption, 00:13:58.629 --> 00:14:01.929 and all of a sudden it all culminated. God interrupts 00:14:01.929 --> 00:14:06.970 them on a little local trip, a little local vacation, 00:14:07.269 --> 00:14:11.309 and they get called into missionary work. God 00:14:11.309 --> 00:14:15.009 calls them to launch and to be missionaries. 00:14:15.149 --> 00:14:19.269 It's a divine interruption. Jesus will personally 00:14:19.269 --> 00:14:22.350 interrupt us. And this location 00:16:54.399 --> 00:16:57.690 that they land in... Landon is not a typical 00:16:57.690 --> 00:17:01.470 Israelite place where they're ministering to. 00:17:01.629 --> 00:17:04.609 It's not the normal Jewish crowd that they've 00:17:04.609 --> 00:17:08.009 been ministering to. Because up until this point 00:17:08.009 --> 00:17:10.369 in time, Jesus is ministering in places that 00:17:10.369 --> 00:17:12.789 are surrounding where they're at. And people 00:17:12.789 --> 00:17:14.769 that are in that area are traditional Jewish 00:17:14.769 --> 00:17:17.650 people who understand the God of Abraham and 00:17:17.650 --> 00:17:21.470 Isaac and Jacob and serving Jehovah. But now 00:17:21.470 --> 00:17:25.670 they slide across. area in a boat, and they land 00:17:25.670 --> 00:17:28.990 in an area that's more Syrian. And these are 00:17:28.990 --> 00:17:32.369 Hellenistic Jews that are in this area. And these 00:17:32.369 --> 00:17:36.569 Jews do not serve Jehovah. It starts off personal. 00:18:20.759 --> 00:18:23.660 but it shifts to corporate. It says this in Luke 00:18:23.660 --> 00:18:26.779 8, 26. Then he sailed to the country of the Gadarenes, 00:18:26.839 --> 00:18:29.240 which is opposite Galilee. And when he stepped 00:18:29.240 --> 00:18:31.220 out on the land, there met him a certain man 00:18:31.220 --> 00:18:33.240 from the city who had demons for a long time. 00:18:33.559 --> 00:18:35.799 And he wore no clothes, nor did he live in a 00:18:35.799 --> 00:18:38.940 house, but in the tombs. Quite the welcoming 00:18:38.940 --> 00:18:41.940 committee, okay? A naked demon -possessed man 00:18:41.940 --> 00:18:44.039 who lives in the tombs. How many know they didn't 00:18:44.039 --> 00:18:45.980 put that on the brochure for the Gadarenes, all 00:18:45.980 --> 00:18:49.519 right? And when he saw Jesus, he cried out, fell 00:18:49.519 --> 00:18:51.380 down before him, and with a loud voice said, 00:18:51.500 --> 00:18:54.059 What have I to do with you, Jesus, Son of the 00:18:54.059 --> 00:18:56.839 Most High God? This person, this is a 00:19:27.089 --> 00:19:31.089 deeply spiritual in nature kind of personal interruption 00:19:31.089 --> 00:19:34.390 that takes place. It's pure demonic evil that 00:19:34.390 --> 00:19:36.549 has taken this individual over, and he's now 00:19:36.549 --> 00:19:39.950 standing face to face with Jesus along the shoreline. 00:19:40.490 --> 00:19:43.650 And when Jesus asks his name, the demons speak 00:19:43.650 --> 00:19:48.390 up and say, legion. There are many. And Jesus 00:19:48.390 --> 00:19:51.869 is there to set this man free from this torment. 00:19:51.990 --> 00:19:55.190 But this very divine personal interruption is 00:19:55.190 --> 00:19:57.930 about to become a divine corporate interruption 00:19:57.930 --> 00:20:01.109 very quickly. Verse 32 says, now the herd of 00:20:01.109 --> 00:20:03.450 many swine were feeding there on the mountain. 00:20:03.490 --> 00:20:06.670 So they begged him that he would permit them, 00:20:06.789 --> 00:20:09.069 and this is the demon speaking, to enter them. 00:20:09.269 --> 00:20:11.289 And he permitted them and the demons went out 00:20:11.289 --> 00:20:13.250 of the man and entered the swine and the herd 00:20:13.250 --> 00:20:15.869 ran violently down the steep place into the lake 00:20:15.869 --> 00:20:18.109 and drowned. And then they went out 00:20:23.029 --> 00:20:41.549 to see what happened. And Jesus... Now you would 00:20:41.549 --> 00:20:44.740 think at this point. Now, this is an unusual 00:20:44.740 --> 00:20:46.839 story in Scripture. You don't see a lot of this 00:20:46.839 --> 00:20:49.960 in Scripture. This is an unusual story. But you 00:20:49.960 --> 00:20:52.079 would think that the people that were in the 00:20:52.079 --> 00:20:54.619 surrounding areas would come out and be deeply 00:20:54.619 --> 00:20:57.099 curious about a man that they've seen out of 00:20:57.099 --> 00:20:59.920 his mind and demon -possessed and living out 00:20:59.920 --> 00:21:02.640 in the tombs, completely healed. You think they 00:21:02.640 --> 00:21:04.920 would be astonished. You think that they would 00:21:04.920 --> 00:21:07.539 come out and say, this is amazing. Who is this 00:21:07.539 --> 00:21:10.680 man that spoke to him? And in moments, this man 00:21:10.680 --> 00:21:13.880 is set free and is sane. even has clothes on, 00:21:14.059 --> 00:21:16.579 right? You'd think that would take place. But 00:21:16.579 --> 00:21:18.980 the fact was that the word of God says that they 00:21:18.980 --> 00:21:20.960 were seized with fear and they wanted nothing 00:21:20.960 --> 00:21:23.559 to do with Jesus. Because 37 says, when the whole 00:21:23.559 --> 00:21:25.519 multitude of the surrounding region of the Gadarenes 00:21:25.519 --> 00:21:28.579 asked him to depart from them and they were seized 00:21:28.579 --> 00:21:31.539 with great fear and he, Jesus, got in the boat 00:21:31.539 --> 00:21:35.460 and returned. Jesus comes to an area called the 00:21:35.460 --> 00:21:38.539 Gadarenes and it's on the southeast side of the 00:21:38.539 --> 00:21:41.519 Sea of Galilee and Jesus interrupts this community. 00:21:42.140 --> 00:21:45.960 with one salvation for one man, right? And the 00:21:45.960 --> 00:21:48.500 whole community should have responded in a different 00:21:48.500 --> 00:21:51.319 way. It should have been a divine interruption 00:21:51.319 --> 00:21:53.700 for this man personally, and honestly, for this 00:21:53.700 --> 00:21:57.440 whole community. But this pagan society decides, 00:21:57.880 --> 00:22:01.359 who's steeped in mythology, that they don't want 00:22:01.359 --> 00:22:04.779 anything to do with Jesus. They look right past 00:22:04.779 --> 00:22:08.319 the man, right, who is healed, and all they can 00:22:08.319 --> 00:22:11.359 see is the pigs that had drowned in the sea. 00:22:11.950 --> 00:22:14.650 All they can see is the profits because people 00:22:14.650 --> 00:22:18.230 sold these pigs for a profit to sacrifice in 00:22:18.230 --> 00:22:22.390 the temples. All they could see was money going 00:22:22.390 --> 00:22:25.509 up in smoke. And they could care less about this 00:22:25.509 --> 00:22:28.829 man that was tormented in the wilderness. And 00:22:28.829 --> 00:22:30.829 I got a little curious about this guy. And the 00:22:30.829 --> 00:22:32.769 word of God doesn't tell us a lot about it. And 00:22:32.769 --> 00:22:34.990 all we can do is kind of conjecture. And when 00:22:34.990 --> 00:22:37.430 I conjecture something, I'll let you know because 00:22:37.430 --> 00:22:40.069 it doesn't say in God's word. But I did read 00:22:40.069 --> 00:22:42.089 in ancient cultures where sometimes somebody 00:22:42.089 --> 00:22:43.769 that was in the outskirts like that, that was 00:22:43.769 --> 00:22:46.349 demon possessed, they were called scapegoats. 00:22:46.880 --> 00:22:49.339 And what it was is in these pagan societies, 00:22:49.559 --> 00:22:52.240 sometimes what would happen is that the witch 00:22:52.240 --> 00:22:54.160 doctors and those who were in these pagan societies 00:22:54.160 --> 00:22:57.240 would pick an individual in the community and 00:22:57.240 --> 00:23:00.460 they would literally kind of transfer the demonic 00:23:00.460 --> 00:23:03.259 activity onto this one person to keep the community 00:23:03.259 --> 00:23:06.690 free. And they would literally, this person would 00:23:06.690 --> 00:23:09.730 be driven through town or forced through town. 00:23:09.849 --> 00:23:13.069 They would beat him with green rods. They would 00:23:13.069 --> 00:23:16.369 throw stones at them. And then they would banish 00:23:16.369 --> 00:23:19.710 him outside of the city. And they were this scapegoat 00:23:19.710 --> 00:23:22.529 for all the evil to be placed on this one person. 00:23:22.589 --> 00:23:24.970 We don't know if that's who this individual was, 00:23:25.089 --> 00:23:27.630 but it kind of seems like it, right? I don't 00:23:27.630 --> 00:23:34.250 know. Jesus delivers this man. He's free. Somebody 00:23:34.250 --> 00:23:37.430 comes on their shore to interrupt everything 00:23:37.430 --> 00:23:41.150 that could set them all free, and they rejected 00:23:41.150 --> 00:23:45.710 them and sent them away. Sent them back across 00:23:45.710 --> 00:23:52.089 the Sea of Galilee. What am I saying? Jesus will 00:23:52.089 --> 00:23:55.430 interrupt you personally, and he will interrupt 00:23:55.430 --> 00:24:00.089 you corporately. And he's there for the same 00:24:00.089 --> 00:24:03.619 reason. Both times. It's because he loves you. 00:24:03.920 --> 00:24:06.579 It's because he'll move heaven and earth. He 00:24:06.579 --> 00:24:08.920 will interrupt somebody personally, and he will 00:24:08.920 --> 00:24:11.380 interrupt the whole group corporately. He went 00:24:11.380 --> 00:24:13.539 there for that one man. I think Jesus knew that 00:24:13.539 --> 00:24:16.259 culture would reject him. He went there for one 00:24:16.259 --> 00:24:19.240 guy who was living in the tombs that nobody cared 00:24:19.240 --> 00:24:22.559 about, and he went there and set that individual 00:24:22.559 --> 00:24:26.769 free. God interrupts us. Jesus interrupts us. 00:24:26.809 --> 00:24:30.410 The Holy Spirit interrupts us so that we understand 00:24:30.410 --> 00:24:33.930 and know that God will move heaven and he will 00:24:33.930 --> 00:24:38.950 move earth to reach us. Jesus did move all of 00:24:38.950 --> 00:24:43.569 heaven and all of earth to reach us. Amen? Worship 00:24:43.569 --> 00:24:47.789 team, if you'd come. This is Palm Sunday, and 00:24:47.789 --> 00:24:48.990 you might have come into the house thinking, 00:24:49.130 --> 00:24:51.230 well, he's going to preach on Palm Sunday. I'm 00:24:51.230 --> 00:24:53.839 just going to touch on it at the end. Because 00:24:53.839 --> 00:24:58.019 Palm Sunday was also a divine interruption. It 00:24:58.019 --> 00:25:03.119 really was. The days leading up to Jesus' crucifixion 00:25:03.119 --> 00:25:07.059 were filled with divine interruptions. Jesus... 00:25:07.420 --> 00:25:11.359 personally and corporately began to interrupt 00:25:11.359 --> 00:25:13.740 what was taking place. And if you know the scene 00:25:13.740 --> 00:25:17.880 going up to the crucifixion and even Palm Sunday, 00:25:18.079 --> 00:25:21.000 what takes place leading up to that is a man 00:25:21.000 --> 00:25:23.579 named Lazarus dies, and he's friends with Jesus. 00:25:23.759 --> 00:25:27.059 And Jesus shows up four days late to the funeral. 00:25:27.200 --> 00:25:30.099 He dies. They bury him. He comes. Lazarus is 00:25:30.099 --> 00:25:33.259 four days dead. Jesus shows up, calls Lazarus' 00:25:33.319 --> 00:25:36.140 name, and pulls him from the tomb. He comes back 00:25:36.140 --> 00:25:38.140 to life. Tell me that's an amazing thing, right? 00:25:38.680 --> 00:25:43.339 Yeah, come on. And the Jews in a nearby city 00:25:43.339 --> 00:25:47.039 of Jerusalem, they hear about this. And they 00:25:47.039 --> 00:25:49.240 hear about this interruption that took place. 00:25:49.380 --> 00:25:51.940 And the Jews there, they know a couple things 00:25:51.940 --> 00:25:53.900 about Jesus. One, they know he just raised a 00:25:53.900 --> 00:25:56.579 guy from the dead. Two, they've heard how he's 00:25:56.579 --> 00:25:59.799 healed others and how the diseases have to flee 00:25:59.799 --> 00:26:04.240 at his word. They hear about a man who can speak 00:26:04.240 --> 00:26:07.180 to nature and elements, right? And they have 00:26:07.180 --> 00:26:10.670 to listen. A man who spoke to Simon Peter and 00:26:10.670 --> 00:26:13.490 fish jump into the boat practically. They jump 00:26:13.490 --> 00:26:16.150 into the net. They hear about this. And the Jews 00:26:16.150 --> 00:26:18.769 in that area under Roman rule are thinking, here's 00:26:18.769 --> 00:26:21.509 our king. Here's the one who has all the power. 00:26:21.730 --> 00:26:23.930 Here's the one who can get us out from underneath 00:26:23.930 --> 00:26:28.329 Roman rule and the brutality of Rome. And there's 00:26:28.329 --> 00:26:30.990 an interruption. And Jesus decides to go into 00:26:30.990 --> 00:26:33.819 Jerusalem. This is part of leading up to what 00:26:33.819 --> 00:26:37.039 he's doing. And he rides in on a donkey, and 00:26:37.039 --> 00:26:40.279 the Jewish people in that city come out, and 00:26:40.279 --> 00:26:42.579 they begin to lay palm branches, and they begin 00:26:42.579 --> 00:26:44.740 to throw their clothes down, and they begin to 00:26:44.740 --> 00:26:47.519 shout to their next king, who they think is going 00:26:47.519 --> 00:26:49.420 to be their next king, the one who's going to 00:26:49.420 --> 00:26:52.400 set them free. And there's disruption going on. 00:26:52.839 --> 00:26:56.480 The Romans, the guards, they hear all this. They 00:26:56.480 --> 00:26:59.380 hear these Jewish people yelling about this new 00:26:59.380 --> 00:27:03.819 king, and that was illegal. Only Caesar could 00:27:03.819 --> 00:27:06.160 be called king. And they're getting ready for 00:27:06.160 --> 00:27:10.099 an uprise. The Pharisees and the scribes, the 00:27:10.099 --> 00:27:12.819 hypocrisy of the religious leaders of that day, 00:27:12.960 --> 00:27:16.660 they are jealous of Jesus getting all the attention. 00:27:16.819 --> 00:27:20.059 Jesus has been confronting them for years on 00:27:20.059 --> 00:27:22.380 their hypocrisy. And they're in this city plotting 00:27:22.380 --> 00:27:24.259 and scheming how they're going to kill Jesus 00:27:24.259 --> 00:27:27.200 and take him out. And I can see Jesus' disciples 00:27:27.200 --> 00:27:31.539 thinking, Jesus, this is a bad idea. Let's not 00:27:31.539 --> 00:27:34.140 go to Jerusalem. Let's go somewhere else and 00:27:34.140 --> 00:27:37.640 minister. They're interrupted. They know that 00:27:37.640 --> 00:27:39.660 this is dangerous. They know what they're walking 00:27:39.660 --> 00:27:44.319 into. And they know that in a few days, right, 00:27:44.400 --> 00:27:47.259 Jesus is the only one that knows in a few days 00:27:47.259 --> 00:27:50.180 that he's going to unfold the plan for mankind. 00:27:51.660 --> 00:27:54.480 It's divine interruption. I'm going to ask you 00:27:54.480 --> 00:27:59.279 to stand this morning. As Jesus comes into the 00:27:59.279 --> 00:28:03.150 city, He knows that it's only going to be a few 00:28:03.150 --> 00:28:06.130 days until he goes to a Roman cross, that he 00:28:06.130 --> 00:28:09.509 dies, that he's buried in a tomb, and three days 00:28:09.509 --> 00:28:11.170 later, he would do what no one else has done. 00:28:11.329 --> 00:28:14.069 He would raise himself to life.
