So the very first memory 00:04:01.560 --> 00:04:04.099 here you're talking about wasn't really you lifting 00:04:04.099 --> 00:04:07.800 out of your body this is you taking the chopper 00:04:07.800 --> 00:04:11.180 ride okay. So you're in the hospital for quite 00:04:11.180 --> 00:04:13.819 some time. Just very briefly, I don't need a 00:04:13.819 --> 00:04:16.120 full medical history, but how badly were you 00:04:16.120 --> 00:04:19.879 hurt? Well, my whole left side was crushed. My 00:04:19.879 --> 00:04:23.660 left leg was all... It wasn't connected just 00:04:23.660 --> 00:04:26.040 by the skin. It was a compound fracture at my 00:04:26.040 --> 00:04:28.639 hip. The lower part of my leg was fractured, 00:04:28.860 --> 00:04:31.939 my shoulder, my spine. I had a traumatic brain 00:04:31.939 --> 00:04:34.279 injury and I had internal bleeding. Believe it 00:04:34.279 --> 00:04:36.279 or not, that was the most dangerous thing. They 00:04:36.279 --> 00:04:39.980 had to do several surgeries to stabilize me from 00:04:39.980 --> 00:04:43.040 that. And I've lots of metal in me. And that's 00:04:43.040 --> 00:04:45.139 the way it was for a while. It was touch and 00:04:45.139 --> 00:04:48.300 go. I was in a coma for about three weeks, almost 00:04:48.300 --> 00:04:51.300 a month. That was when I experienced. So was 00:04:51.300 --> 00:04:54.579 there one medical event that kind of set you 00:04:54.579 --> 00:04:56.720 gone where you felt like you left your body? 00:04:57.439 --> 00:05:00.480 Well, it was more like it was the coma. I was 00:05:00.480 --> 00:05:02.540 in the coma for a long time. Like some people 00:05:02.540 --> 00:05:04.959 like they'll have a heart attack and all of a 00:05:04.959 --> 00:05:07.439 sudden they'll have this experience. But when 00:05:07.439 --> 00:05:09.579 I was in the coma, I didn't know I was anywhere 00:05:09.579 --> 00:05:12.430 else. It wasn't like there was an event. It was 00:05:12.430 --> 00:05:14.449 like all of a sudden, I was just going on with 00:05:14.449 --> 00:05:16.550 my life. I didn't know anything else was going 00:05:16.550 --> 00:05:19.050 on, like anything was different, although things 00:05:19.050 --> 00:05:21.750 appeared to get pretty strange very quickly. 00:05:22.170 --> 00:05:25.290 But there wasn't one event. The most medical 00:05:25.290 --> 00:05:27.430 thing was my internal bleeding because they couldn't 00:05:27.430 --> 00:05:29.470 find it. And that's what caused a lot of the 00:05:29.470 --> 00:05:32.250 trouble. But what I believe was happening to 00:05:32.250 --> 00:05:34.610 me is I was going through a death process where 00:05:34.610 --> 00:05:38.329 perhaps you transition from your physical life 00:05:38.329 --> 00:05:40.870 into a spiritual life. And you're making sense 00:05:40.870 --> 00:05:44.269 of your physical life in order to understand 00:05:44.269 --> 00:05:46.490 what's happening to you. And that's what I think 00:05:46.490 --> 00:05:48.629 was going on. It's not about the brain being 00:05:48.629 --> 00:05:51.350 dead or not about the heart stopping. It was 00:05:51.350 --> 00:05:55.389 my overall state. I remember showing my medical 00:05:55.389 --> 00:05:57.930 report to my primary physician and he looked 00:05:57.930 --> 00:05:59.629 at it and he threw it down. He dropped it down 00:05:59.629 --> 00:06:01.730 on the table and said, Steve, this is an autopsy 00:06:01.730 --> 00:06:05.110 report. And that's the way it was. I'm sorry. 00:06:05.230 --> 00:06:08.920 This is not funny, but an autopsy report. Holy 00:06:08.920 --> 00:06:11.980 cow. I tell you, when I received the best medical 00:06:11.980 --> 00:06:14.860 care possible, it was. Stony Brook University 00:06:14.860 --> 00:06:17.620 is a university hospital. In fact, the surgeon who did the operation 00:06:25.519 --> 00:06:27.600 on my leg told me if this accident would have 00:06:27.600 --> 00:06:30.540 happened six months earlier, that the outcome 00:06:30.540 --> 00:06:33.709 would have been very different. And I also I 00:06:33.709 --> 00:06:36.449 was in pretty good shape. I wasn't a teenager, 00:06:36.730 --> 00:06:39.410 but I have exercised all my life and I was fairly 00:06:39.410 --> 00:06:43.230 muscular. So my body really took a big hit, but 00:06:43.230 --> 00:06:46.170 with the right medical care, I was able to survive. 00:06:47.009 --> 00:06:50.209 All right. Let's dive deeper in. You used the 00:06:50.209 --> 00:06:52.709 word transition. I want to hear a little bit 00:06:52.709 --> 00:06:55.430 about what that was like and where you ended 00:06:55.430 --> 00:06:59.730 up. Well, my first experience in that place was 00:06:59.959 --> 00:07:03.240 what I call learning the language of the universe. 00:07:03.540 --> 00:07:06.459 And what I mean by that is that I was a zero 00:07:06.459 --> 00:07:09.720 on the spirituality scale prior to this experience. 00:07:09.980 --> 00:07:12.720 So I think what had to happen is I had to become 00:07:12.720 --> 00:07:15.860 aware of spirituality and that we were more than 00:07:15.860 --> 00:07:18.800 just flesh and blood. And so the very first thing 00:07:18.800 --> 00:07:22.860 I was taught was about the spirit inside each 00:07:22.860 --> 00:07:25.060 of us. And the way that I was taught about it 00:07:25.060 --> 00:07:28.089 is I was presented with a work situation. And 00:07:28.089 --> 00:07:30.509 I was dealing with this fellow I knew from work. 00:07:30.829 --> 00:07:33.310 But something was very odd about him is that 00:07:33.310 --> 00:07:35.730 he didn't age a bit. And I said hello to him. 00:07:35.769 --> 00:07:37.870 We were doing some computer stuff. I'm a computer 00:07:37.870 --> 00:07:40.990 guy at the time. I took care of him. That was 00:07:40.990 --> 00:07:43.269 it. But then I saw him again and he looked like 00:07:43.269 --> 00:07:46.449 he aged 20 years. And then it took me a while 00:07:46.449 --> 00:07:49.189 to recognize him again. And I said, are you so 00:07:49.189 --> 00:07:51.810 -and -so? And he said, yeah. And he smiled. And 00:07:51.810 --> 00:07:55.449 that was odd. And then I saw him again. And he 00:07:55.449 --> 00:07:58.620 was a kid. And then I realized, like, the game 00:07:58.620 --> 00:08:01.579 was on. Is that I had to guess who this person 00:08:01.579 --> 00:08:04.199 was, no matter what shape or form they took. 00:08:04.560 --> 00:08:06.860 I had to guess. Sometimes he approached me as 00:08:06.860 --> 00:08:09.459 a man, other times as a woman, sometimes as an 00:08:09.459 --> 00:08:12.639 Asian person, sometimes an African person. He 00:08:12.639 --> 00:08:15.420 kept on trying to trick me to not guess who he 00:08:15.420 --> 00:08:18.360 was. And so at first it was like, I would see 00:08:18.360 --> 00:08:20.740 a mannerism or he would use a word and I would 00:08:20.740 --> 00:08:23.120 say, oh, you're so -and -so. And he would say, 00:08:23.139 --> 00:08:26.339 oh, yeah, you got me. But what happened is that 00:08:26.339 --> 00:08:29.279 after a while, I started to sense him a little 00:08:29.279 --> 00:08:32.740 bit at a time, like an energy, some sort of energy. 00:08:32.919 --> 00:08:35.960 And as time went on, we played this game so many 00:08:35.960 --> 00:08:39.059 times, eventually I didn't even need to speak 00:08:39.059 --> 00:08:41.860 with him. And what happened 00:09:46.460 --> 00:09:50.120 is I reviewed my life over and over again. And 00:09:50.120 --> 00:09:52.340 what happens is is that I viewed my whole life 00:09:52.340 --> 00:09:55.220 up until that point, and then my awareness was 00:09:55.220 --> 00:09:59.220 raised. And I would review my life again through 00:09:59.220 --> 00:10:01.519 the eyes of an increased awareness. And each 00:10:01.519 --> 00:10:06.179 time I learned more and more from my life experiences. 00:10:06.200 --> 00:10:09.179 And that's why being able to sense spirit in 00:10:09.179 --> 00:10:11.419 everybody and everything was essential in order 00:10:11.419 --> 00:10:15.320 to have my life review. I didn't have any shame or regret. It was the same thing when I was learning 00:11:56.590 --> 00:11:59.370 spirit is that I didn't understand the guy kept 00:11:59.370 --> 00:12:01.570 on changing forms. I didn't understand what I 00:12:01.570 --> 00:12:03.950 was supposed to be learning. But you have all 00:12:03.950 --> 00:12:06.129 the time in the universe to work this through. 00:12:06.389 --> 00:12:08.490 And when I say all the time is that up until 00:12:08.490 --> 00:12:11.149 that time in my life, maybe I was a 45 year old 00:12:11.149 --> 00:12:14.659 man. Okay before we jump 00:12:50.870 --> 00:12:53.850 into the next step I have a couple of questions 00:12:53.850 --> 00:12:58.389 and comments one is this this game with this 00:12:58.389 --> 00:13:01.230 person from work I've interviewed hundreds of 00:13:01.230 --> 00:13:04.129 people experiencers that's a new one on me and 00:13:04.129 --> 00:13:06.669 I'm trying to process that What do you think? 00:13:06.830 --> 00:13:08.490 I mean, you've mentioned some things you were 00:13:08.490 --> 00:13:11.809 supposed to learn about spirit from that. Anything 00:13:11.809 --> 00:13:14.750 else? Why do you think it was taught to you in 00:13:14.750 --> 00:13:19.049 that way? Well, because I believe, in my own 00:13:19.049 --> 00:13:22.350 interpretation, is my experience was what I was 00:13:22.350 --> 00:13:25.009 going to learn from. And I believe everyone else's 00:13:25.009 --> 00:13:27.950 experience in that place, in that place of transition, 00:13:28.370 --> 00:13:31.250 kind of like purgatory, but not a place of punishment, 00:13:31.429 --> 00:13:34.110 but a place of knowledge. And that I believe 00:13:34.110 --> 00:13:37.330 everyone's experience is different, but they're 00:13:37.330 --> 00:13:39.389 taught in a way that they would learn. You know, he 00:14:02.659 --> 00:14:05.419 was from Haiti, and he kind of like spoke this 00:14:05.419 --> 00:14:07.940 creole that was part French, part English, and 00:14:07.940 --> 00:14:10.220 part something else. So he had to act things 00:14:10.220 --> 00:14:13.320 out when he talked. We became 00:37:29.679 --> 00:37:32.880 very good friends and and we talked about our 00:37:32.880 --> 00:37:35.460 sons. How does that happen?
