Before 00:06:36.759 --> 00:06:41.740 my NDE, I was a woman who was not happy in life. 00:06:42.379 --> 00:06:44.860 I have been, I'm going to use the words cursed 00:06:44.860 --> 00:06:48.860 because I was cursed with lack of self -love 00:06:48.860 --> 00:06:52.540 or self -loathing and I've only discovered recently 00:06:52.540 --> 00:06:56.439 it really is a curse. Of course it's a generational 00:06:56.439 --> 00:06:59.420 thing and my family have discovered that too. 00:06:59.800 --> 00:07:03.019 It's also very much about the way we speak to 00:07:03.019 --> 00:07:07.420 each other and the genetics we have and the I 00:07:07.420 --> 00:07:10.500 guess the sensitivity in our nature all comes 00:07:10.500 --> 00:07:13.699 together and it can cause us to really not appreciate 00:07:13.699 --> 00:07:17.060 ourselves in fact to loathe ourselves and unfortunately 00:07:17.060 --> 00:07:21.100 that's where I I was from, I remember being initially 00:07:21.100 --> 00:07:24.439 from very young. So this caused me to make a 00:07:24.439 --> 00:07:27.339 lot of let's call them errors or mistakes in 00:07:27.339 --> 00:07:30.259 life, although we know that really it's only 00:07:30.259 --> 00:07:34.500 just another path. But anyhow, it caused me not 00:07:34.500 --> 00:07:37.860 to continue with my education. It caused me to 00:07:37.860 --> 00:07:41.079 get into the wrong careers. It caused me to get 00:07:41.079 --> 00:07:44.120 into disastrous relationships because I just 00:07:44.120 --> 00:07:48.139 grabbed at the first thing that came along. And 00:07:48.139 --> 00:07:51.279 then I had, I've got three beautiful children, 00:07:51.379 --> 00:07:55.300 but even when they come along, perhaps it wasn't 00:07:55.300 --> 00:07:58.819 in the best of circumstances. So yeah, a lot 00:07:58.819 --> 00:08:02.319 of mental and physical ill health was going along 00:08:02.319 --> 00:08:05.060 with that. And directly before this happened, 00:08:05.120 --> 00:08:09.500 I was a civil servant. I was in a new relationship, 00:08:09.620 --> 00:08:14.319 pregnant. I was 39 and the relationship was already 00:08:14.319 --> 00:08:17.939 going downhill. My father had had cancer and 00:08:17.939 --> 00:08:21.079 just died. My mom lived next door to me. Of course, 00:08:21.079 --> 00:08:24.740 she was deeply depressed. And I had two daughters 00:08:24.740 --> 00:08:28.399 who were just hitting their teens. So, yes, it 00:08:28.399 --> 00:08:32.059 was quite a mixture of stress, depression and 00:08:32.059 --> 00:08:35.240 ill health. And how did your labor and childbirth 00:08:35.240 --> 00:08:39.600 go? Well, my son was my third child, so it was 00:08:39.600 --> 00:08:43.320 a completely different pregnancy. I thought I 00:08:43.320 --> 00:08:47.559 was going to lose. him and then the doctors thought 00:08:47.559 --> 00:08:51.539 that he may have a chromosome abnormality so 00:08:51.539 --> 00:08:54.419 we had that decision to make as well just before 00:08:54.419 --> 00:08:56.820 halfway through the pregnancy so it was very 00:08:56.820 --> 00:09:00.340 worrisome and that was not good given my current 00:09:00.340 --> 00:09:04.759 state of mind however we got through that we 00:09:04.759 --> 00:09:08.460 got to the day in question and i was laboring 00:09:08.460 --> 00:09:12.809 away in a national health service hospital. This 00:09:12.809 --> 00:09:16.789 is where in the UK you have so -called free medicine 00:09:16.789 --> 00:09:19.990 although everyone contributes to it. So the choices 00:09:19.990 --> 00:09:23.169 were limited particularly in those days and because 00:09:23.169 --> 00:09:26.690 I was an experienced mother I was certain I was 00:09:26.690 --> 00:09:30.230 going to have this baby right away. So when the 00:09:30.230 --> 00:09:33.690 anaesthetist came round I told him that it was 00:09:33.690 --> 00:09:36.929 too late for a spinal block and sent him on his 00:09:36.929 --> 00:09:39.929 way. Three hours later I was screaming for him 00:09:39.929 --> 00:09:43.019 to come back And in those days, that wasn't an 00:09:43.019 --> 00:09:45.940 option. There was one anaesthetist for all the 00:09:45.940 --> 00:09:49.379 women that were in labour that night. So I basically 00:09:49.379 --> 00:09:52.100 had to get on with it without really any major 00:09:52.100 --> 00:09:56.860 pain relief. So I got to the stage where I just 00:09:56.860 --> 00:09:59.620 felt that I couldn't do this anymore. I was just 00:09:59.620 --> 00:10:03.379 so utterly exhausted in the mind, body and the 00:10:03.379 --> 00:10:07.100 spirit. And I just thought to myself, I can't 00:10:07.100 --> 00:10:08.820 do this. It wasn't even a conscious thought. 00:10:08.820 --> 00:10:11.179 It was just like a knowingness. I really can't 00:10:11.179 --> 00:10:14.860 do this anymore. And that's where some interesting 00:10:14.860 --> 00:10:18.539 things really started to happen.
