I'm going to read out of the NIV 00:00:20.539 --> 00:00:24.730 tonight, this morning rather. Very familiar passage 00:00:24.730 --> 00:00:27.390 of Scripture, but let me give you a context. 00:00:27.469 --> 00:00:30.170 Let me contextualize. Even if you go to school in Illinois, 00:01:59.469 --> 00:02:02.530 it's still mathematically impossible. And so, 00:03:00.460 --> 00:03:05.219 however, when he did that, when he fed the 5 00:03:05.219 --> 00:03:08.439 ,000, as we read that he dismissed the crowd, 00:03:08.620 --> 00:03:13.629 however, There's something that began to transpire. 00:03:14.909 --> 00:03:20.030 Because he met the need, people followed him 00:03:20.030 --> 00:03:23.889 not because he was a lord of lords and the king 00:03:23.889 --> 00:03:26.830 of kings. They followed him because all he did 00:03:26.830 --> 00:03:31.530 is meet needs. And this is something that we 00:03:31.530 --> 00:03:35.889 can understand because how many know that Jesus 00:03:35.889 --> 00:03:38.650 can meet every need? How many know that Jesus 00:03:38.650 --> 00:03:44.099 can meet every need? But there comes a time in 00:03:44.099 --> 00:03:49.580 our life when we're not seeking him to meet our 00:03:49.580 --> 00:03:54.159 needs. We're seeking him because we want to obey 00:03:54.159 --> 00:03:57.819 him. We're seeking him because we want to worship 00:03:57.819 --> 00:04:01.180 him. We're seeking him because we want to know 00:04:01.180 --> 00:04:02.699 him. Come on, are you hearing what I'm saying? 00:04:02.819 --> 00:04:06.620 Not just that he meets my needs. Because every 00:04:06.620 --> 00:04:09.659 one of us in this room have needs. We all have 00:04:09.659 --> 00:04:12.409 need. And so 00:04:16.610 --> 00:04:19.209 what God is doing with the disciples when he 00:04:19.209 --> 00:04:22.350 tells them to go to the other side because the 00:04:22.350 --> 00:04:24.730 crowd started following him because he gave them 00:04:24.730 --> 00:04:29.810 free food. And so what happened, because I guarantee 00:04:29.810 --> 00:04:31.790 you, you put a sign up there, free food, the 00:04:31.790 --> 00:04:35.889 church is packed. Come on. And so what happens 00:04:35.889 --> 00:04:40.230 is, at that process, he wants the disciples to 00:04:40.230 --> 00:04:42.990 graduate from the ministry of need to the ministry 00:04:42.990 --> 00:04:46.350 of maturity. And he wants them to go to the other 00:04:46.350 --> 00:04:49.790 side. Now, notice what he says. Then he says, 00:04:50.009 --> 00:04:53.610 after he had dismissed them, he went up to the 00:04:53.610 --> 00:04:57.029 mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, 00:04:57.050 --> 00:04:59.470 he was all alone, which means he's praying for 00:04:59.470 --> 00:05:02.709 the next assignment. But here's where it gets 00:05:02.709 --> 00:05:06.339 interesting. Here in verse 24 of Matthew 14. 00:05:07.480 --> 00:05:10.639 And the boat was already a considerable distance 00:05:10.639 --> 00:05:15.040 from land, buffeted by the waves because the 00:05:15.040 --> 00:05:21.120 wind was against it. Everybody say the wind was 00:05:21.120 --> 00:05:25.620 against it. Now, how many believe in fasting 00:05:25.620 --> 00:05:35.769 and prayer? Why do you fast and pray? Because 00:05:35.769 --> 00:05:39.649 there are things in our life that are buffeting 00:05:39.649 --> 00:05:43.550 us from getting where we need to be. Right? That's 00:05:43.550 --> 00:05:46.529 why we believe in fasting and prayer. So think 00:05:46.529 --> 00:05:50.470 about this. These disciples are actually in the 00:05:50.470 --> 00:05:54.610 boat of obedience. They're actually doing what 00:05:54.610 --> 00:05:56.569 God has called them to do. They're not resistant 00:05:56.569 --> 00:05:59.490 to the call of God. They're saying yes to God. 00:05:59.610 --> 00:06:01.550 They're getting the boat. They're going to the 00:06:01.550 --> 00:06:05.199 other side. But sometimes the tendency is, if 00:06:05.199 --> 00:06:10.399 I am doing everything God has commanded me to 00:06:10.399 --> 00:06:14.980 do, then guess what? I am now immune to any kind 00:06:14.980 --> 00:06:20.519 of warfare. Are you hearing me? I'm in the will 00:06:20.519 --> 00:06:22.540 of God. For instance, I'll give you an example. 00:06:22.759 --> 00:06:25.279 You know, my wife is a righteous woman. She's 00:06:25.279 --> 00:06:28.579 a holy woman of God. She's a giver, but she still 00:06:28.579 --> 00:06:31.959 gets cancer. Are you hearing what I'm saying? 00:06:32.379 --> 00:06:34.699 And there's a tendency, especially within our 00:06:34.699 --> 00:06:38.019 Western culture, to think that as long as I'm 00:06:38.019 --> 00:06:43.040 living perfectly, as long as she, as long as 00:06:43.040 --> 00:06:46.000 I'm doing what God called me to do, I'm now immune 00:06:46.000 --> 00:06:49.019 to any kind of warfare or any kind of storm. 00:06:49.240 --> 00:06:52.800 Come on. And so Meliana, I want to tell you something. 00:06:53.259 --> 00:06:56.600 Meliana got cancer, but guess what? She got healed. 00:06:56.680 --> 00:06:59.819 Come on. She doesn't have cancer. Because 00:07:47.310 --> 00:07:51.810 the storm is exposing the opposition. Doing God's 00:07:51.810 --> 00:07:54.310 will is going to expose. This is a real enemy 00:07:54.310 --> 00:07:57.129 that doesn't want to get this church to the other 00:07:57.129 --> 00:08:00.389 side. Can I hear an amen right now? I feel like 00:08:00.389 --> 00:08:03.870 preaching. I thought I was in a Pentecostal church. 00:08:04.050 --> 00:08:07.449 You should be running by now. Come on. But here 00:08:07.449 --> 00:08:11.569 they are in the will of God. Doing everything 00:08:11.569 --> 00:08:14.829 God says, and there's this opposition, this thing 00:08:14.829 --> 00:08:20.279 that is buffeting them. And so we find out the 00:08:20.279 --> 00:08:23.899 famous, the only place in the Bible where this 00:08:23.899 --> 00:08:27.579 is recorded. We find out that here they are. 00:08:28.680 --> 00:08:32.320 Because sometimes we go, God, why is obeying 00:08:32.320 --> 00:08:37.840 you so hard? Because there's a real devil and 00:08:37.840 --> 00:08:40.059 a real darkness that doesn't want to get me to 00:08:40.059 --> 00:08:43.200 the other side. Even the fundamentalist 00:08:57.059 --> 00:09:01.519 conservative media didn't post the Democrats 00:09:01.519 --> 00:09:07.019 and Republicans worshiping God together. That 00:09:07.019 --> 00:09:12.039 was never, never said. I was there. I watched 00:09:12.039 --> 00:09:15.620 them lift their hands. I watched a congressman 00:09:15.620 --> 00:09:18.620 say, I'm a Democrat and I love Jesus. Come on. 00:09:19.700 --> 00:09:23.360 You follow what I'm saying? No, I don't believe 00:09:23.360 --> 00:09:25.019 that, but he does. No, I'm just kidding. I'm 00:09:25.019 --> 00:09:34.779 just kidding. Shortly before dawn, Jesus 00:09:43.070 --> 00:09:50.129 went out to them, walking on the lake. Everybody 00:09:50.129 --> 00:09:55.230 say, walking on the lake. Well, here's something 00:09:55.230 --> 00:10:02.389 I realized. Because why isn't Jesus calming the 00:10:02.389 --> 00:10:10.019 storm? Wouldn't that be a lot better? Wouldn't 00:10:10.019 --> 00:10:17.539 that give a little bit less drama? A little anxiety 00:10:17.539 --> 00:10:21.279 and worry and fear. If you just calm the sea, 00:10:21.440 --> 00:10:25.519 everything is going to be fine. That's a lot 00:10:25.519 --> 00:10:32.799 easier. Why aren't you calming the storm? Because sometimes Jesus 00:10:43.250 --> 00:10:49.690 doesn't calm the storm. And because I'm a prophetic 00:10:49.690 --> 00:10:52.769 voice, I'm going to tell you the truth that Jesus 00:10:52.769 --> 00:10:59.129 doesn't always calm the storm. He can. And I'm showing the disciples that as 00:11:50.500 --> 00:11:53.779 I'm walking over the storm, so you can walk on 00:11:53.779 --> 00:11:56.960 top of the storm too. I'm talking, the disciples say, oh, 00:13:35.580 --> 00:13:41.679 he's a ghost, and cried out in fear. Well, let 00:13:41.679 --> 00:13:45.639 me tell you what happened. Because when I posted 00:17:05.730 --> 00:17:09.240 that. All of a sudden, Meliana saw it. She didn't 00:17:09.240 --> 00:17:11.180 say anything. She didn't think anything. Or sick. Come on. Dead or sick. And I realized 00:17:24.819 --> 00:17:28.019 something about human nature with these disciples, 00:17:28.200 --> 00:17:30.940 ladies and gentlemen, that our default, I thought, 00:17:31.019 --> 00:17:32.819 what we're saying about this church is called 00:17:32.819 --> 00:17:37.130 faith assembly. It's not called fear assembly. 00:17:37.890 --> 00:17:42.670 It's called faith assembly, right? I like that 00:17:42.670 --> 00:17:46.490 name. Come on, I like that. And many of these people 00:18:04.519 --> 00:18:06.900 that posted were pastors and leaders and worship 00:18:06.900 --> 00:18:09.599 leaders across the country. And I was completely 00:18:09.599 --> 00:18:13.319 shocked. So then I had to rewrite it. Come on. 00:18:13.319 --> 00:18:15.880 But no, she's not dead.
