Or they might raise animals, but 00:03:34.680 --> 00:03:37.379 when it comes time to harvesting the animals, 00:03:38.900 --> 00:03:45.280 there's a problem. Or the garden, they cannot 00:03:45.280 --> 00:03:49.150 successfully grow a garden. So they cannot provide 00:03:49.150 --> 00:03:51.870 food for themselves. This morning we're 00:04:31.279 --> 00:04:34.000 going to talk about the importance of wells in 00:04:34.000 --> 00:04:37.779 our life. And so we're going to walk through 00:04:37.779 --> 00:04:39.740 here really quickly at the beginning because 00:04:39.740 --> 00:04:42.500 I want to get where we're going at the end. So 00:04:42.500 --> 00:04:45.720 there are five wells in the Old Testament that 00:04:45.720 --> 00:04:47.879 we're going to take a brief moment to look at. 00:04:48.029 --> 00:04:53.709 Okay, the first one is the well of being seen 00:04:53.709 --> 00:04:58.250 and accepted. This is the first well that we 00:04:58.250 --> 00:05:03.430 see in the Bible, and that is in Genesis chapter 00:05:03.430 --> 00:05:10.350 16. This is the account of Hagar, and if you 00:05:10.350 --> 00:05:13.029 know the backstory, you know the promise God 00:05:13.029 --> 00:05:16.750 gave Abraham for a son, and then he and Sarai 00:05:16.750 --> 00:05:21.939 could not have a child. So Sarai got tired of 00:05:21.939 --> 00:05:25.399 waiting on God and said, here, take my servant 00:05:25.399 --> 00:05:29.019 and have a child with her. That will be my child. 00:05:29.639 --> 00:05:33.899 And so she sends Hagar into Abraham and they 00:05:33.899 --> 00:05:41.500 have a child, Ishmael. And once she gets pregnant, 00:05:41.860 --> 00:05:47.519 Sarai, unfortunately, begins to resent Hagar 00:05:47.519 --> 00:05:51.300 and to be jealous of Hagar and to treat her poorly. 00:05:52.500 --> 00:05:58.680 And so Hagar runs away from Sarai. She flees. 00:05:59.519 --> 00:06:04.040 And so we take up the account in verse 6 of Genesis 00:06:04.040 --> 00:06:09.160 16. Then Sarai mistreated Hagar, so she fled 00:06:09.160 --> 00:06:13.259 from her. The angel, I'm skipping around in this 00:06:13.259 --> 00:06:17.439 chapter, The angel of the Lord found Hagar near 00:06:17.439 --> 00:06:22.339 a spring. A spring is also used interchangeably 00:06:22.339 --> 00:06:25.120 with a well, and later on in the chapter it's 00:06:25.120 --> 00:06:30.879 called a well. But the Lord spoke it in 00:08:06.120 --> 00:08:08.560 such a way, I knew he was asking me. I was like, 00:08:08.600 --> 00:08:11.920 oh, no. And he said to me, I don't want you to 00:08:11.920 --> 00:08:14.600 talk to anybody about this till you decide if 00:08:14.600 --> 00:08:18.939 you're going to obey. And so I had a lady I was 00:08:18.939 --> 00:08:22.199 praying with weekly and I knew I wasn't supposed 00:08:22.199 --> 00:08:26.720 to say a word to her. Sunday night, we had a 00:08:26.720 --> 00:08:29.040 church fellowship and she came up to me and she 00:08:29.040 --> 00:08:32.220 said, Cami, I've been praying for you. The Lord 00:08:32.220 --> 00:08:34.720 has spoken to me that you're in a battle and 00:08:34.720 --> 00:08:39.669 it has to do with children. And He wants you 00:08:39.669 --> 00:08:44.350 to know that He sees you. That's all she said. 00:08:45.009 --> 00:08:48.730 That was all I needed to hear. And I said, yes, 00:08:48.730 --> 00:08:52.250 Lord. There was something, there was a power 00:08:52.250 --> 00:08:57.889 in knowing God sees me. And this is the well of provision. 00:11:53.759 --> 00:11:57.720 And so Hagar had gone back, right, and gotten 00:11:57.720 --> 00:12:01.379 pregnant, had the baby, and still Sarah is having 00:12:01.379 --> 00:12:05.000 issues with this. And she can just no longer 00:12:05.000 --> 00:12:08.460 take it anymore. And she says, send that woman 00:12:08.460 --> 00:12:13.399 away. I don't want her in my household. Send 00:12:13.399 --> 00:12:17.600 him away. Send her away. And so we come to Genesis 00:12:17.600 --> 00:12:22.730 21. And so after, you know, Abraham really just 00:12:22.730 --> 00:12:26.289 should have stood up to his wife. But early the 00:12:26.289 --> 00:12:30.190 next morning, Abraham took some food and a skin 00:12:30.190 --> 00:12:33.730 of water, this is verse 14, and gave them to 00:12:33.730 --> 00:12:39.490 Hagar. He set them on her shoulders and sent 00:12:39.490 --> 00:12:43.269 her off with the boy. She went on her way and 00:12:43.269 --> 00:12:47.149 wandered in the desert of Beersheba. When the 00:12:47.149 --> 00:12:51.169 water in the skin was gone, She put the boy under 00:12:51.169 --> 00:12:54.610 one of the bushes. Then she went off and sat 00:12:54.610 --> 00:12:57.529 down about a bow shot away, for she thought, 00:12:57.950 --> 00:13:02.570 I cannot watch the boy die. And as she sat there, 00:13:02.570 --> 00:13:06.169 she began to sob. All the mama hearts can understand 00:13:06.169 --> 00:13:11.289 that, right? God heard the boy crying, and the 00:13:11.289 --> 00:13:15.649 angel of God again called to Hagar from heaven 00:13:15.649 --> 00:13:20.029 and said to her, What is the matter, Hagar? They were 00:24:07.039 --> 00:24:10.430 often hungry. They were often thirsty But in 00:24:10.430 --> 00:24:14.630 chapter 15 verse 27, it says that they came to 00:24:14.630 --> 00:24:18.430 Elam where there were 12 springs of water and 00:24:18.430 --> 00:24:23.829 70 palms. This is the well that enables us in 00:24:23.829 --> 00:24:28.990 Psalm 84, 6 to pass through the valley of weeping, 00:24:29.349 --> 00:24:32.089 where they make it a place of springs and of 00:24:32.089 --> 00:24:37.650 pools of refreshment. How does that happen? Because 00:24:38.029 --> 00:24:40.890 There's a well that God gives of refreshment. 00:24:41.490 --> 00:24:45.230 It's a well for you to drink from. And so these 00:24:45.230 --> 00:24:49.269 are wells that we find, and they're literal wells, 00:24:49.349 --> 00:24:52.710 but they're places of God encounters as well. 00:24:53.529 --> 00:24:56.970 Right? You can drink actual water from these 00:24:56.970 --> 00:25:00.430 wells, but they were also these God encounter 00:25:00.430 --> 00:25:05.730 places. In the New Testament, there are two wells, 00:25:05.750 --> 00:25:09.640 and this is where we're going. And you can't 00:25:09.640 --> 00:25:12.839 get to the second well unless you go to the first 00:25:12.839 --> 00:25:18.319 well. And the first well is found in John chapter 00:25:18.319 --> 00:25:23.759 four. And I'm gonna be moving around in here, 00:25:23.779 --> 00:25:27.220 but we're gonna start in verse six. This is where 00:25:27.220 --> 00:25:31.819 Jesus comes and he meets the Samaritan woman 00:25:31.819 --> 00:25:38.210 at a well. His disciples have gone in to get 00:25:38.210 --> 00:25:43.410 him food and he comes to Samaria and he sits 00:25:43.410 --> 00:25:49.230 at the well of Jacob. And in verse 6, it says, 00:25:49.450 --> 00:25:54.529 Jesus, therefore, being wearied from his journey, 00:25:55.490 --> 00:26:00.079 sat thus by the well of Jacob. It was about the 00:26:00.079 --> 00:26:03.519 sixth hour, and a woman of Samaria came to draw 00:26:03.519 --> 00:26:06.619 water, and Jesus said to her, Give me a drink, 00:26:07.059 --> 00:26:10.339 for his disciples had gone to buy food. And the 00:26:10.339 --> 00:26:14.799 woman of Samaria said to him, How is it that 00:26:14.799 --> 00:26:21.279 you, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan 00:26:21.279 --> 00:26:25.920 woman? For Jews had no dealing with Samaritans. 00:26:25.980 --> 00:26:29.279 They would have nothing to do with each other. 00:26:29.740 --> 00:26:35.119 A huge racial issue right here. And he still has to touch on things in 00:28:05.799 --> 00:28:10.400 my life. But he says, go call your husband and 00:28:10.400 --> 00:28:15.619 come here. And she says, I have no husband. And 00:28:15.619 --> 00:28:18.519 Jesus says, you have well said, I have no husband, 00:28:18.799 --> 00:28:21.460 for you have five husbands. You have had five 00:28:21.460 --> 00:28:25.279 husbands. And the one whom you now have is not 00:28:25.279 --> 00:28:29.720 your husband. In that you spoke truly. And again, he calls out and says, with 00:31:33.049 --> 00:31:36.970 joy you will draw from the water the wells of 00:31:36.970 --> 00:31:43.430 salvation. Listen to me, if you are here this 00:31:43.430 --> 00:31:46.750 morning and you've said, I have never drank of 00:31:46.750 --> 00:31:50.509 these waters. I have a thirst that I've been 00:31:50.509 --> 00:31:53.789 trying to satisfy and I just can't seem to quench 00:31:53.789 --> 00:31:59.400 it. There are waters available for you all are 00:31:59.400 --> 00:32:03.680 welcome at the wells of salvation and He would 00:32:03.680 --> 00:32:07.220 love for you today to draw deep and to drink 00:32:07.220 --> 00:32:12.539 from the well of salvation Once we have drank 00:32:12.539 --> 00:32:17.920 of the well of salvation though Here's here's 00:32:17.920 --> 00:32:21.380 where we're gonna land this next well of the 00:32:21.380 --> 00:32:25.160 New Testament And so a couple of weeks ago, Dennis 00:32:25.160 --> 00:32:30.559 gave this word. And it says, the word that came 00:32:30.559 --> 00:32:34.700 was, the Lord would say, surely that there is 00:32:34.700 --> 00:32:40.160 a fresh well that is beginning to flow. It will 00:32:40.160 --> 00:32:44.119 soon gush forth with the oil of the spirit that 00:32:44.119 --> 00:32:47.940 the world has not known before. It will bring 00:32:47.940 --> 00:32:51.480 forth fresh revelation, fresh understanding, 00:32:52.000 --> 00:32:55.220 fresh flow of the spirit that the nations have 00:32:55.220 --> 00:32:59.789 not experienced before. Reformation will come 00:32:59.789 --> 00:33:02.529 forth in a mighty way that the world has not 00:33:02.529 --> 00:33:05.769 known. For surely those who would want to stand 00:33:05.769 --> 00:33:08.950 by the old, the old was for an appointed time, 00:33:08.970 --> 00:33:12.150 for an appointed season. And so what began to happen, they became 00:39:04.280 --> 00:39:07.519 drowsy, they fell asleep. The bridegroom had come 00:39:33.059 --> 00:39:38.739 and taken them and the doors had shut.
