A little delayed, but okay. It's Mark 00:08:49.539 --> 00:08:51.580 chapter 5, and we're going to be starting in 00:08:51.580 --> 00:08:55.659 verse 25. Just a little bit of background. So 00:08:55.659 --> 00:09:00.620 Jesus is on his way to heal one of the synagogue's 00:09:00.620 --> 00:09:04.539 official's daughters who's been sick. And one 00:09:04.539 --> 00:09:07.340 of the people came and told him Jesus was on 00:09:07.340 --> 00:09:10.440 his way to go heal her. And something that I've 00:09:10.440 --> 00:09:14.750 read probably 50 times. is stuck out to me really, 00:09:14.830 --> 00:09:17.830 really big in this little scenario that happens. 00:09:17.950 --> 00:09:21.529 And it's short, but there's so much that goes 00:09:21.529 --> 00:09:24.110 into this. And like I said, this ties into what 00:09:24.110 --> 00:09:26.269 I said earlier. This is why it's so important 00:09:26.269 --> 00:09:28.789 to study the Bible, because I never really thought 00:09:28.789 --> 00:09:32.789 about it this way until a couple days ago, really. 00:09:32.990 --> 00:09:35.490 But we're going to start in verse 25. It says, 00:09:37.259 --> 00:09:40.220 who had a hemorrhage for 20 years and had endured 00:09:40.220 --> 00:09:43.039 much at the hands of many physicians and had 00:09:43.039 --> 00:09:46.940 spent all she had and was not helped at all, 00:09:47.019 --> 00:09:49.779 but had rather grown worse. So you can see right 00:09:49.779 --> 00:09:52.779 away, there's a woman that has a medical problem 00:09:52.779 --> 00:09:55.200 and she's went to many doctors and she can't 00:09:55.200 --> 00:09:58.000 get healed and she's spent all of her money trying 00:09:58.000 --> 00:10:01.519 to get fixed and no one can fix her. One of the 00:10:01.519 --> 00:10:03.159 things that really stuck out to me here is how 00:10:03.159 --> 00:10:05.240 many times do we get in that spot where we feel 00:10:05.240 --> 00:10:07.120 like there's no one that can help. That no matter 00:10:07.120 --> 00:10:09.960 how much we try, how many people we talk to, 00:10:09.980 --> 00:10:12.500 how many doctors we go to or whatever, there's 00:10:12.500 --> 00:10:15.159 no one that can fix us. I know I've been there 00:10:15.159 --> 00:10:17.080 many times, especially with some of the mental 00:10:17.080 --> 00:10:19.539 problems that I have with my own self, that I 00:10:19.539 --> 00:10:21.240 feel that there's no one that will understand 00:10:21.240 --> 00:10:23.360 exactly what I'm going through. That there's 00:10:23.360 --> 00:10:26.039 not a single person that I can talk to, not even 00:10:26.039 --> 00:10:29.019 my wife, to help me through what I'm going through. 00:10:30.090 --> 00:10:32.629 In a way, that hit me hard because I'm like, 00:10:32.710 --> 00:10:34.850 you know, this woman's been suffering for 20 00:10:34.850 --> 00:10:38.730 years and went to many doctors who, if anyone 00:10:38.730 --> 00:10:41.149 didn't know back then, the doctors were not great 00:10:41.149 --> 00:10:44.649 by any means. Medical stuff back then was very, 00:10:44.929 --> 00:10:46.970 there was a lot of very sketchy things and a 00:10:46.970 --> 00:10:49.049 lot of trial and error. So I was like, I can't 00:10:49.049 --> 00:10:50.889 even imagine what this woman had been through 00:10:50.889 --> 00:10:52.610 at the hands of some of these doctors trying 00:10:52.610 --> 00:10:55.960 to make this situation get fixed. And it got 00:10:55.960 --> 00:10:59.059 me thinking about how we go through a lot of 00:10:59.059 --> 00:11:00.559 stuff in our life, and there's a lot of those 00:11:00.559 --> 00:11:03.000 times where we try to go to people for help, 00:11:03.039 --> 00:11:07.059 and we just can't find help. And I hear that 00:11:07.059 --> 00:11:10.120 story so many times, especially because I, those 00:11:10.120 --> 00:11:11.240 of you who don't know, I'm the youth director. 00:11:11.360 --> 00:11:13.539 I do a lot of work with the youth or I try to, 00:11:13.639 --> 00:11:16.580 but there's a lot of teenagers now that I talk 00:11:16.580 --> 00:11:19.259 to and they tell me that same thing. Well, no 00:11:19.259 --> 00:11:21.320 one just, no one understands me. No one understands 00:11:21.320 --> 00:11:23.539 what I'm going through. And, and it, it tears 00:11:23.539 --> 00:11:26.019 my heart to pieces because we'll find out a little 00:11:26.019 --> 00:11:28.080 bit later that there's definitely people who 00:11:28.080 --> 00:11:30.279 will be able to help you, but we'll find out 00:11:30.279 --> 00:11:32.139 that the main source of that help comes from 00:11:32.139 --> 00:11:35.360 God. That no matter who you talk to, nobody, 00:11:35.399 --> 00:11:37.220 is going to give you the good the good answers 00:11:37.220 --> 00:11:39.679 that god can give you and then as we continue 00:11:39.679 --> 00:11:43.460 in verse 27 says after hearing about jesus she 00:11:43.460 --> 00:11:46.320 came up in the crowd behind him and touched his 00:11:46.320 --> 00:11:48.960 cloak for she thought if she just touched his 00:11:48.960 --> 00:11:52.220 garments i will be healed and this is where a 00:11:52.220 --> 00:11:55.950 lot of what i really dove into was just these 00:11:55.950 --> 00:11:59.370 two verses because the way this planned out played 00:11:59.370 --> 00:12:01.909 out in my head is after like a winter jam concert 00:12:01.909 --> 00:12:04.190 when the show's over and there's thousands of 00:12:04.190 --> 00:12:06.049 people trying to get to the door so they can 00:12:06.049 --> 00:12:07.809 get out of the building for those who've never 00:12:07.809 --> 00:12:09.669 been to winter jam i highly recommend it it's 00:12:09.669 --> 00:12:13.470 amazing um but my anxiety goes through the roof 00:12:13.470 --> 00:12:15.429 in those moments because there's so many people 00:12:15.429 --> 00:12:17.730 around and it's shoulder to shoulder and you're 00:12:17.730 --> 00:12:21.470 pumping into people and this woman was in the 00:12:21.470 --> 00:12:25.419 crowd And she said, for if I just touch his garments, 00:12:25.600 --> 00:12:29.960 I will be well. So for one, she has to get through 00:12:29.960 --> 00:12:32.299 the crowd to get to Jesus, which has got to be 00:12:32.299 --> 00:12:34.820 a chore in and of itself. Because when you have 00:12:34.820 --> 00:12:37.019 a bunch of people around you wanting to talk 00:12:37.019 --> 00:12:38.799 to you and wanting to be healed and all this, 00:12:38.840 --> 00:12:41.320 and Jesus is just trying to make his way to this 00:12:41.320 --> 00:12:44.620 official's house. So there's people all around 00:12:44.620 --> 00:12:46.659 him and she has to get through this crowd just 00:12:46.659 --> 00:12:52.120 to be able to touch him. And then in 29, Immediately 00:12:52.120 --> 00:12:55.179 the flow of her blood was dried up, and she felt 00:12:55.179 --> 00:12:58.940 her body, that she was healed of her affliction. 00:12:59.220 --> 00:13:02.340 Immediately Jesus, perceiving in himself that 00:13:02.340 --> 00:13:05.440 the power proceeding from him had gone forth, 00:13:05.559 --> 00:13:08.740 turned around in the crowd and said, Who touched 00:13:08.740 --> 00:13:11.980 my garments? And his disciples said, You see 00:13:11.980 --> 00:13:15.179 the crowd pressing in on you, and you say, Who 00:13:15.179 --> 00:13:17.980 touched me? And he looked around to see the woman 00:13:17.980 --> 00:13:20.779 who had done this. But the woman, fearing and 00:13:20.779 --> 00:13:24.139 trembling, aware of what had happened to her, 00:13:24.240 --> 00:13:27.320 came and fell before him and told him the whole 00:13:27.320 --> 00:13:29.899 truth. And he said to her, daughter, your faith 00:13:29.899 --> 00:13:33.100 has made you well. Go in peace and be healed 00:13:33.100 --> 00:13:38.700 of your affliction. So this brings me to a lot 00:13:38.700 --> 00:13:41.539 of things that I could talk about. But there's 00:13:41.539 --> 00:13:43.720 really a couple of things that I really thought 00:13:43.720 --> 00:13:46.720 God was talking to me here. And one of them is 00:13:46.720 --> 00:13:49.799 she just had to touch Jesus. She didn't have 00:13:49.799 --> 00:13:52.419 to go beg him. She didn't have to go bow down 00:13:52.419 --> 00:13:55.139 at his feet and say, please heal me. She just 00:13:55.139 --> 00:13:57.539 had to touch him. And this is pretty important 00:13:57.539 --> 00:13:59.820 because how many times have we seen throughout 00:13:59.820 --> 00:14:02.360 the New Testament Jesus going to people and healing 00:14:02.360 --> 00:14:04.879 them and putting his hands on them to heal them, 00:14:04.919 --> 00:14:06.879 to heal the blind and the sick, and he healed 00:14:06.879 --> 00:14:09.460 the lame man that was lowered through the roof 00:14:09.460 --> 00:14:12.779 on the mattress. But this woman just had to touch 00:14:12.779 --> 00:14:16.350 him. Jesus didn't know, like, We probably did 00:14:16.350 --> 00:14:19.149 know because that's just how Jesus is, but she 00:14:19.149 --> 00:14:21.549 just reached out and touched him. And this is 00:14:21.549 --> 00:14:25.250 so crazy to me because she didn't do anything 00:14:25.250 --> 00:14:28.370 else but touch him. But the only reason she was 00:14:28.370 --> 00:14:30.309 healed is not because she touched Jesus. That's 00:14:30.309 --> 00:14:32.389 not the reason. And if you think that's the reason, 00:14:32.450 --> 00:14:33.950 we're missing the point because that's not the 00:14:33.950 --> 00:14:36.470 reason. She got healed because of her confidence 00:14:36.470 --> 00:14:39.419 and her faith. In Jesus. The confidence in the 00:14:39.419 --> 00:14:42.500 power that God has through Jesus that all she 00:14:42.500 --> 00:14:45.200 had to do was touch his clothing and she would 00:14:45.200 --> 00:14:48.299 be healed. So it has nothing to do with the fact 00:14:48.299 --> 00:14:50.580 that she was in the crowd and she just touched 00:14:50.580 --> 00:14:53.000 him and she's like, hey, here's Jesus. It's her 00:14:53.000 --> 00:14:56.480 confidence and her faith. So if you're in a spot 00:14:56.480 --> 00:14:58.659 where you don't think you can be helped, part 00:14:58.659 --> 00:15:00.539 of the reason is you might not have confidence 00:15:00.539 --> 00:15:02.700 in God that he can help you through what you're 00:15:02.700 --> 00:15:06.679 going through. And there's so many times where 00:15:06.679 --> 00:15:08.940 we get stuck in those spots where we're down 00:15:08.940 --> 00:15:10.779 and we're out and we don't think that we can 00:15:10.779 --> 00:15:13.059 be helped because we're losing our confidence 00:15:13.059 --> 00:15:17.679 in God. And this is why this hurts so bad because 00:15:17.679 --> 00:15:20.460 so many times I look back and where I was and 00:15:20.460 --> 00:15:22.580 where I've been and some of the situations I've 00:15:22.580 --> 00:15:23.799 been in and I'm just like, you know what, God, 00:15:23.860 --> 00:15:25.779 I'm done. I don't want to do this no more. And 00:15:25.779 --> 00:15:28.879 then I get a slap upside the head because I'm 00:15:28.879 --> 00:15:32.250 not putting my full trust in God. I don't have 00:15:32.250 --> 00:15:36.049 the confidence in my faith anymore. And here's 00:15:36.049 --> 00:15:38.009 something to think about. If you can't be confident 00:15:38.009 --> 00:15:40.610 in faith that God is real and God has the power, 00:15:40.870 --> 00:15:43.929 just look at the way the world works. Look at 00:15:43.929 --> 00:15:45.929 how the earth is perfectly positioned to where 00:15:45.929 --> 00:15:47.769 we're not too far away from the sun, but we're 00:15:47.769 --> 00:15:49.590 not too close away from the sun. Because if we 00:15:49.590 --> 00:15:51.490 were just a little bit farther, and in the grand 00:15:51.490 --> 00:15:53.470 scheme of things, it is a very short distance 00:15:53.470 --> 00:15:55.950 further from the earth, we would freeze. And 00:15:55.950 --> 00:15:57.669 if we were just a very short distance closer, 00:15:57.929 --> 00:16:00.909 we would burn. So we're in that perfect circle 00:16:00.909 --> 00:16:03.909 around the sun so we can sustain life. Think 00:16:03.909 --> 00:16:05.649 about it. If we had no trees, we wouldn't be 00:16:05.649 --> 00:16:07.269 able to survive because what do trees provide? 00:16:07.710 --> 00:16:11.889 Oxygen. You know, without bees, we wouldn't have 00:16:11.889 --> 00:16:15.659 plants. Because bees are one of the biggest pollinators 00:16:15.659 --> 00:16:19.480 of all insects. So even something as small and 00:16:19.480 --> 00:16:21.659 what people would think insignificant as a bee, 00:16:21.779 --> 00:16:24.259 if all the bees were to die, we would lose, I 00:16:24.259 --> 00:16:27.039 think it was like 80 % of our plant life. You can't reach 00:17:06.930 --> 00:17:09.430 out and touch Jesus if you're not confident because 00:17:09.430 --> 00:17:11.190 nothing will happen. Look at all those people 00:17:11.190 --> 00:17:12.950 that he was standing around. Nothing happened 00:17:12.950 --> 00:17:14.829 to them, bumping into him, pressing up against 00:17:14.829 --> 00:17:17.529 him. Nothing happened to none of them. But the 00:17:17.529 --> 00:17:20.309 one woman who was confident enough to go, all 00:17:20.309 --> 00:17:23.609 I have to do is touch God, touch God's son, I'll 00:17:23.609 --> 00:17:25.910 be healed. She was the one that got the miracle. 00:17:26.529 --> 00:17:28.950 So you can reach all you want. You can try to 00:17:28.950 --> 00:17:31.009 reach God all you want. That 00:18:06.009 --> 00:18:08.809 we're not just worthless. We're not just some 00:18:08.809 --> 00:18:11.309 piece of trash to be discarded. Because if you 00:18:11.309 --> 00:18:14.049 think about it, I can only assume that's what 00:18:14.049 --> 00:18:16.049 this woman was thinking at this point. 20 years 00:18:16.049 --> 00:18:18.450 of suffering. I can only assume that she thought 00:18:18.450 --> 00:18:20.589 she was worthless. That she's like, okay, well, 00:18:20.670 --> 00:18:23.309 I guess my life's just done. I guess this is 00:18:23.309 --> 00:18:25.210 just who I am for the rest of my life. How many 00:18:25.210 --> 00:18:27.029 times have we thought that? Well, I guess this 00:18:27.029 --> 00:18:29.130 is just who I am. You can't break the habits. 00:18:29.900 --> 00:18:33.420 And you're stuck in your own ways.
